At its meeting on May 28, the Southeast Delco School District Board of Directors approved the appointment of Dr. Jeffrey Ryan as the district’s next superintendent.
He will succeed Dr. Yamil Sanchez Rivera, who will continue to serve as superintendent through June 12, 2026.
A proud Southeast Delco alum and long-time staff member, Dr. Ryan has served as assistant superintendent of pupil services since 2009. Prior to that, he was principal of Harris School from 2005 to 2009 and assistant principal of Sharon Hill School from 2002 to 2005.
“Dr. Ryan has dedicated his entire life to Southeast Delco, from growing up in our community and graduating from Academy Park, to serving as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and assistant superintendent,” said Board President Francesca Barley. “Few people understand this district the way he does because he has lived every part of it. We could not be happier to see someone who has given so much to our schools now lead them as superintendent.”
Dr. Ryan holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from West Chester University. He also received a master’s degree in educational administration from Saint Joseph’s University and a doctorate in educational leadership from Wilmington University.
“This school district has played a pivotal role in my life, both professionally and personally,” said Dr. Ryan. “I am humbled by the opportunity to continue to serve the Southeast Delco community in this new role.”
Dr. Ryan will officially begin his role as superintendent on June 13, 2026.
