What is a Flexible Instructional Day? (FID)

A Flexible Instruction Day (FID) is a Pennsylvania Department of Education-approved program that allows schools to deliver instruction remotely—online or offline—during emergency closures like severe weather, epidemics, or building issues. These days count toward the 180-day, full-school-year requirement, eliminating the need for make-up days. Schools are typically limited to five FIDs per year.

Steps for Southeast Delco School District Students and Parents - What do I do on a Flexible Instructional Day (FID)?

When a Flexible Instructional Day (FID) is called due to weather or other event, all instruction will occur online with your district Chromebook. On a FID day, here are the steps students should take:

Step 1 – Check the website. Verify on the district or school website that the day was declared a Flexible Instructional Day (FID).

Step 2 – Log into Google Classroom. This can be done on your district Chromebook, or on your personal device by logging into classroom.google.com and entering your Southeast Delco username and password. If you experience issues logging in, please complete the alternate assignment provided by your teacher.

Step 3 – Check in to your classes. Your teachers will post assignments directly on your Google Classroom page.

Students will complete assignments to earn credit for the day and be marked present. You must complete and submit your assignments to get credit for the day and to be marked present.

Alternate assignments (paper and pencil) will be provided by your teachers for students who cannot log into their Google Classroom portal. Please refer to the directions given by your teacher for these alternate assignments.
